  • Q&A

Q1: Does the programme accept a candidate without Project 985 or Project 211 educational background?

A1: Yes. It would be more favourable for a candidate if he or she has a related major background and a high score on the English language proficiency test (IELTS or TOEFL).

Q2: I'm not an applied psychology major. Is there a chance for me to be accepted?

A2: Applicants with related backgrounds will be given preference. If you are not an applied psychology major and don't have a related background or knowledge, the application will be less competitive.

Q3: What's the number of admissions per year?

A3: Each master's program admits about 30-40 students per year.

Q4: What if I haven't got my graduation certificate or degree certificate?

A4: You can submit proof of full-time student status first.

Q5: How to submit reference letters?

A5: Fill in the referrer information in the online application system, and the referrer will receive an invitation email.

Q6: Who should I ask for a reference letter?

A6: A reference letter from your undergraduate professor is preferred. If you are already at work, you may seek a reference letter from your employer.

Q7: Is it a rolling admission or round admission?

A7: Round admission.

Q8: When will I know the result after I submit my application?

A8: After successfully submitting the online application, you can check the application result in the online application system. Please pay attention to the official website or email notification for the admission result.

Q9: When will the entrance exam be held?

A9: The first round of applications: December-January of the following year. The second round of applications: April of the follow year-May of the same year.

Q10: What are the main contents and forms of the entrance examination for the MSc in Applied Psychology programme?

A10: The interview is usually organized online in full English. It is mainly to examine whether the applicant has fluent and proficient communication skills in English and the level of thinking and experience in psychological research.

Q11: Why can't I take the entrance exam even though my undergraduate GPA and language score meet the standard?

A11: Applicants with excellent qualifications in all areas will be given priority for entrance examinations. We recommend that applicants prepare their application materials and language proficiency test carefully to increase their competitiveness.

Q12: How about career development after graduation?

A12: There are mainly three directions: the first one is to further study overseas after graduation; the second one is to work in enterprises (or start your own business); the third one is to work as a teacher in universities or schools in Shenzhen or other cities in China.

Q13: Does the university provide accommodation?

A13: Subject to notice from the graduate school.
