MA in Simultaneous Interpreting

The graduates of Master of Arts in Simultaneous Interpreting Programme are expected to possess a high level of language and communication proficiency that will enable them to perform professionally in advanced interpreting (consecutive and simultaneous) with high competency. They should also possess basic skills for lifelong learning and be international in outlook, upright in character, and committed to serving the needs of society. The solid training offered by this Programme will also make its graduates competitive candidates for research postgraduate programmes in SI.

Graduation Requirement
All students are required to meet all the programme requirements, pass all the assessments and obtain a cumulative overall GPA of at least 2.0 in order to graduate.  

*Applicable to students admitted in or after AY2024-2025

 

Course and Unit Exemption

Students may be granted course and/or unit exemptions if they have taken similar or equivalent courses from other MA programme in T&I studies with satisfactory performance ("B" grade or above). Supporting documents such as academic transcripts and course syllabus must be provided. Exemption for a maximum of six units may be granted. Upon exemption from courses, students will be required to replace the exempted courses with electives of equal number of units. Similar or equivalent course from their undergraduate level (e.g. Second Foreign Language) cannot be exempted. The application should be approved by the Dean of the Graduate School after the endorsement of the Programme Director/Coordinator and the Graduate Panel Chair.
