Student Sharing | Global Studies Postgraduate Experiences
Global Studies is a new Master's programme in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2019, with three streams in International Relations, Global Political Economy, and Global Sustainable Development. The first cohort of new students enrolled in the programme in September this year.
As soon as I stepped onto the campus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), my spirit was lifted and the long-lost motivation in my body seemed to start flowing again in my blood. "I felt that I should not only learn Chinese and Western culture but also inherit Chinese civilization; I should not only bear in mind the national It is not only necessary to remember the mission of the country but also to keep in mind the original intention of revival; it is not only necessary to study hard but also to apply what we have learned.
What I felt most when I entered the classroom was the free and inclusive learning atmosphere, where not only the teacher but also a like-minded partner in the lecture hall would patiently teach and inspire us to be independent thinkers.
The programme was very full, with a large amount of literature to read each week, which greatly honed and developed my skills. My classmates came from all over the country and from many different disciplinary backgrounds, and the interaction with them provided me with a new perspective and dimension of thinking. The professors are highly skilled and approachable, teaching not only knowledge but also ways of understanding the world.
"To combine tradition with modernity, to bring together China and the West." This slogan, which has been prominently displayed in the building since the first day of my studies, is the most intuitive and sincere summary of what I have been able to give in the past month since I enrolled at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). Having studied in the United States for five years, I am eager to bring the essence of Chinese culture to the world while taking in the essence of Western education, which happens to fit perfectly with the mission of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and the spirit of East-meets-West academics that I have felt since enrolling in the Global Studies program at the university.
