Alumi Stories |He Zexu: Pursuing the diverse possibilities of life
1. How did you decide to start the "耗子笑Jason" WeChat public account?
The public website was created in September 2017. I was given a postgraduate offer from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and my Weibo followers wanted me to share some of my study methods, so I decided to share the dry goods and psychological insights I had accumulated. What you can see on the public number is not only my own experience but also the journey to success, methodologies, websites/public numbers/Knowledge articles used by many of my invited friends from major universities such as Tsinghua, Peking University and Imperial College, as well as those who have joined famous companies such as Huawei.
2. How do you understand "Pursuing the diverse possibilities of life"?
At the heart of this statement is the idea of 'reducing information asymmetry. As an undergraduate, I studied at a university where information was relatively inaccessible, and information from outside the university was difficult to obtain through official channels. In the second semester of my junior year, my teacher shared with me a tweet about "summer camps for graduate studies", and I learned that apart from exams and applications, I could also attend summer camps; in the first semester of my senior year, in November, I learned that there were "autumn recruitment", "spring recruitment" and even "supplementary recruitment". In November of the first semester of my senior year, I learned that there were " fall recruitment ", " spring recruitment ", and even " supplemental recruitment ", and that I needed an internship to find a job.
If I hadn't known this information at the time, my path in life might have been very different, and perhaps I would have been heading down a worse one. I have come a long way from being the worst version of myself and know that information and methodology are more important than burying our heads in the sand. Inadequate information can lead to greater regret, and we have to draw on the richness of others' lives to gain useful information to pursue the diverse possibilities of our own lives.
3. Please tell us what you have learned about studying at CUHK-Shenzhen and what you see for the future.
I am very satisfied with the study life here. I often say, "The intertwining of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Concurrent Studies programme at the University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) has fulfilled all my fantasies about university". I am grateful for the dual focus on academic and personal development here. Here, I have felt cared for in all aspects of my studies, art, career and life. I will never forget the attitude toward learning and being a human being that my teachers taught me in class and in my interactions, such as the "palms down and responsibility" that Dr Zhang always says, and the way Professor Sui treats all students equally and encourages them constantly - it means a lot. Finally, I would like to thank the environment for its tolerance of diversity. I made two special vlogs about the school facilities:

At university, it was more important to grow in thinking and in thinking. I didn't become a police officer, I didn't work as a translator and I may have left the internet industry years later, but these are stories to remember. The most important thing is to broaden your perception, to always grow and to live this life the way you want to.
